The works are generally of religious and devotional themes, and were created by such artists as Francesco Valdrambino, Pietro Lorenzetti and Ducciodi Buoninsegna. Once a hospital and orphanage, this place of caring was built in the 800s. Today the grand building houses the National Archaeological Museum of Siena.
